About

GPT-Rosalind, announced April 16, 2026 as a research preview and taken to general availability September 11, 2026, is OpenAI's first vertical frontier model, built for biology, drug discovery, and translational medicine. Named after Rosalind Franklin, it is fine-tuned on dozens of biological research workflows and designed for advanced reasoning across genomics interpretation, target discovery, pathway analysis, literature synthesis, and protein engineering, interfacing natively with public databases such as PDB and UniProt.

On benchmarks it posted a 0.751 pass@1 on BixBench and led GPT-5.4 on six of eleven LABBench2 tasks. Access follows OpenAI's Trusted Access model: initially restricted to qualified US enterprise customers and named partners including Amgen, Moderna, the Allen Institute, and Thermo Fisher Scientific, it opened globally to eligible organizations in September 2026 at $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens. A Life Sciences research plugin for Codex connects it to more than 50 scientific tools and data sources.
