Tripo 2.5
VAST's second-generation 3D foundation model: text and images to production-ready textured meshes in seconds.
About
Tripo 2.5 arrived in January 2025 as the follow-up to Tripo 2.0, trained by VAST on tens of millions of native 3D assets. It turned text prompts and reference images into high-quality textured meshes fast enough for real creator workflows, and it became the workhorse version of Tripo before the 3.0 rewrite landed in September 2025. VAST claims it set new marks at the time for generation speed and geometric accuracy, though the company never published a formal benchmark table to back that up.
The 2.5 generation is now one step behind the current H-series (3.0/3.1, up to 2M polygons) and P-series Smart Mesh low-poly models, but it remains the version many API integrations and the Blender plugin were built against. Tripo itself is closed and commercial: a free tier with monthly credits, paid plans, and a documented API with dedicated text-to-model and image-to-model endpoints. VAST raised roughly $446M in Series B/B+ financing, which says something about the company's runway even if it says nothing about mesh quality.

Benchmarks
No published formal benchmarks; generation-quality claims (speed, geometric precision) are provider-reported
Provider-reported unless a source says otherwise. Benchmarks are marketing-adjacent by nature — treat them as directional.
Use cases
Trust score — 8/10
Scored 8/10 (verified tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: launched January 2025 by VAST with official docs and a documented API; widely integrated (Blender plugin, MCP); company raised ~$446M Series B/B+. Strengths: production track record, multi-view input support, quad-mesh output options. Docked for: (1) closed weights — only the separate TripoSR/TripoSG releases are open; (2) no published formal benchmarks, quality claims are provider-reported; (3) superseded by Tripo 3.x models. License: proprietary commercial.
