About

LTX-2 (open-source release January 6, 2026; announced late 2025) is Lightricks' 19B-parameter DiT video model: unified audio-video generation (synchronized dialogue, ambience, motion), native 4K at 50fps, clips up to 20 seconds, and three modes (Fast/Pro/Ultra). Lightricks released not just weights but training code — "truly open" per the announcement, a rarity in video.

The Hugging Face checkpoint carries a custom Lightricks license tag ("other") — verify the terms; the announcement emphasizes openness for builders, but it is not a standard OSI license. With 274k HF downloads it is by far the most-used open video checkpoint. Distilled variants run on consumer GPUs; ComfyUI pipelines included. Later point releases (2.3, 2.5) added a desktop editor and multishot generation — this entry covers the 2.0 open release.

Benchmarks

Provider-claimed (Lightricks): production-grade quality exceeding open-source systems — treat as provider-claimed. Independent standardized video benchmarks are limited.

Provider-reported unless a source says otherwise. Benchmarks are marketing-adjacent by nature — treat them as directional.

Trust score — 7/10

/10 trustMetrics-checked

Scored 7/10 (metrics tier). The standout open video release: unified audio+video, native 4K, training code published, and 274k HF downloads — genuinely production-grade openness. Docked three points: (1) the license is a custom Lightricks tag, not a standard OSI license — verify commercial terms; (2) quality claims are provider-reported without independent benchmark validation; (3) the 2026 release means long-term maintenance is unproven.
