About

Grok Voice Transcribe 2.0, released September 18, 2026, is xAI's second-generation speech-to-text model. It transcribes at $0.10 per audio hour for batch jobs and $0.20 per audio hour for streaming, with diarization, timestamps, and key terms included. It adds automatic language detection with mid-recording language switches in a single pass, and xAI says an internal short-phrase set meant to mimic voice-assistant commands dropped word error rate from 20.6% to 6.8%.

The independent numbers are solid: Artificial Analysis measured a 2.3% batch word error rate (down from 4.0% on version 1.0) and a 2.7% streaming final-transcript WER at 0.49 seconds after end of speech, briefly putting it at the top of the public real-time rankings before Microsoft's MAI-Transcribe-2-Streaming overtook it.

On October 2, 2026, version 1.0 was deprecated and reached end of life; all requests to that slug are routed to 2.0 at the same price, so 2.0 is now the default for new and existing integrations.

/10 trustVerified

Release facts (September 18, 2026; $0.10/$0.20 per audio hour; v1.0 EOL October 2) verified in xAI's docs and corroborated by independent press; the WER figures come from Artificial Analysis's independent leaderboard. Docked for: (1) it has already lost the streaming #1 spot to Microsoft's newer model; (2) the short-phrase WER improvement is xAI's own internal test; (3) proprietary with no weights.
