Gemma 2B
Google's first-generation lightweight 2B open model built on Gemini research.
About
Gemma 2B was one of the two models Google launched the Gemma family with in February 2024, alongside Gemma 7B. Built from the same research and technology behind Gemini, it is a dense decoder-only transformer aimed at laptops, edge devices, and small-server deployment, with base and instruction-tuned variants.
Note that this is the first-generation Gemma 2B, distinct from the later Gemma 2 2B released in mid-2024. It ships under the Gemma Terms of Use, which permit commercial use and redistribution, rather than a traditional open-source license.
