Smithery (smithery.ai, site verified live) is the best-known registry/marketplace for MCP servers: a searchable catalog with one-line installs and hosted deployment for servers.
Note the moving pieces, verified Oct 2026: the CLI repo moved from smithery-ai/cli to arcadeai-labs/smithery-cli (840 stars, AGPL-3.0, last push May 2026 — slowing), and the GitHub org now shows zero public repos, suggesting an acquisition or restructure (Arcade AI). The registry itself is a hosted SaaS product — convenient, but closed, with no repo to audit and curation quality as the trust question.
