About

Runway Aleph, launched July 25, 2025, is a state-of-the-art in-context video model that edits existing footage instead of generating from nothing. Upload a clip and describe the change — remove a bystander, relight day to night, swap a red dress for blue, generate a new camera angle of the same scene, transfer a style — and Aleph analyzes the scene context to apply it with temporal consistency. It can also extend a scene or generate the next shot in a sequence from a source video. Adobe integrated Aleph into Firefly's Prompt to Edit feature in December 2025.

The honest picture: it collapses several post-production steps (cleanup, relighting, style transfer) into one prompt interface, which is genuinely new. But it's available to paid Runway users only, results still need review for fine detail and brand-critical continuity, and complex multi-object edits can drift. Treat it as a previz and cleanup accelerator, not a replacement for an editor.

What it can do

  • Prompt-driven edits to existing video: add, remove, transform objects
  • New camera angles generated from a single source clip
  • Relighting, weather, season, and time-of-day changes
  • Style transfer from image prompts or reference footage
  • Scene expansion beyond the original frame
  • Temporal consistency maintained across edited frames

Setup

Available to paid Runway subscribers at runway.com; also accessible inside Adobe Firefly's Prompt to Edit.

Prerequisites
