PlayPhrase
Search any phrase and instantly watch movie and TV clips where it is spoken.
About
PlayPhrase.me is a phrase search engine over more than 39.5 million English phrases pulled from movie and TV subtitles. Type any line and it plays back-to-back 2-6 second clips of that exact phrase being spoken, with subtitles shown underneath.
The free tier allows 5 phrases per session with basic filters including CEFR levels A1-C2, idiom and question toggles, and actor filters. Patreon tiers at $3 and $5 per month unlock unlimited searches, clip downloads, and a Mixer tool for stitching clips into compilations. One caveat: the site hosts unlicensed film clips under a self-declared fair-use policy, so downloads are best kept to study and personal use.
