Metabob
AI code review that detects logic bugs using graph neural networks and generative AI.
About
Metabob is an AI code review and debugging tool founded in 2020, combining graph-attention neural networks with generative AI to analyze codebases and detect problems that traditional static analysis tools miss. Its AI is trained on millions of bug fixes performed by experienced developers, enabling it to detect complex contextual problems such as race conditions and unmanaged edge cases, and to generate context-sensitive explanations and fixes. It supports Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C++, C, and Java, and integrates with VS Code, GitHub, Bitbucket, and GitLab.
The company graduated from NEC X's Elev X! Ignite venture program, and in February 2026 NEC announced successful deployment across select internal operations. Validation trials showed Metabob reduced NEC's software maintenance and in-development remediation times by 66% compared to manual processes and by 50% versus other AI-assisted workflows, with NEC planning broader incorporation into its workflows.
Limitation: Metabob remains a relatively small vendor compared to incumbents like SonarQube, and enterprise adoption outside NEC's ecosystem is still building. Teams should pilot it on their own codebase to validate the claimed low false-positive rate before replacing existing review tooling.
What it can do
- Graph-neural-network-based detection of contextual logic bugs
- Generative AI explanations and suggested fixes
- Refactoring recommendations to reduce technical debt
- Enterprise self-hosting with customizable detection models
