Atlassian MCP Server
Community MCP server bridging Jira and Confluence for AI agents.
About
The widely-used community MCP server for Atlassian (sooperset/mcp-atlassian, ~6k stars). It exposes Jira issues and Confluence pages as MCP tools — searching, reading, creating, and updating — installable via uvx mcp-atlassian.
It is not an official Atlassian product, which matters for support expectations. Atlassian API tokens are sensitive (broad workspace access), so use a least-privilege token and prefer the read-heavy workflows.
What it can do
- Jira issue search, read, create, and update
- Confluence page search and reading
- uvx one-line install
- Supports Cloud and Server/DC
Setup
- Create an Atlassian API token (least privilege) at id.atlassian.com.
- Add to your MCP client config: command
uvx, args["mcp-atlassian"]with your Jira/Confluence URLs and token in env. - Restart the client and test with a search.
Prerequisites
An MCP-compatible client; Atlassian Cloud/Server with an API token.
Use cases
Works with
Trust score — 8/10
Scored 8/10 (verified tier). The de-facto community standard (~6k stars, MIT, 25 releases/12mo, actively pushed), README install verified. Docked because it is community-maintained (not official Atlassian — support is best-effort), the open-issue count is high relative to stars, and Atlassian tokens carry broad workspace permissions, so credential hygiene matters. Verified tier on the strength of adoption and docs.
