Maiao
Gerrit-style stacked PRs from one command — now a community fork spanning 6 forges.
About
Maiao provides a single git review command that turns each commit in your branch into its own stacked PR/MR with parent-child dependencies, using Gerrit-style Change-IDs to track commits across rebases. Fixups are handled elegantly via git commit --fixup, and stacks auto-rebase when PRs merge.
Originally built at Adevinta, the upstream repo went unmaintained when the maintainers left; development continues as the community fork runetes/maiao. It supports GitHub, GitLab, Gitea, Forgejo, Bitbucket Cloud, and Cursor Origin, auto-detecting the provider from the remote URL and registering native stacks where available. MIT licensed, free and open source.
What it can do
- `git review` one-command stacked PRs
- Change-ID commit tracking across rebases
- Fixup-based review iteration
- Native stack registration (GitHub Stacks, GitLab)
- Multi-forge auto-detection
Setup
Install the maiao binary, run git review in a repo with commits to stack.
Prerequisites
Git; a supported forge remote (GitHub, GitLab, Gitea, Forgejo, Bitbucket, Cursor Origin).
