About

Linktree was founded in Melbourne in 2016 by brothers Alex and Anthony Zaccaria with Nick Humphreys, after they grew tired of updating single bio links for music clients. It became the default link-in-bio: one page holding all of a creator's or brand's links, shared from an Instagram or TikTok bio. The basic service is free with Linktree branding; paid plans start around $6-9 a month and add custom themes, email and SMS signup links, commerce links, scheduling, and deeper analytics. The company raised $110 million in March 2022 at a $1.3 billion valuation (Reuters) and later reached a $1.7 billion valuation (Wikipedia), and it has been buying the category: Odesli in 2021, Koji in December 2023 (shut down February 2024), Sequoia-backed Bento in 2023 (sunset February 2026), and social scheduler Plann.

Linktree's scale is its argument: 70 million members per Wikipedia, integrations with Shopify, TikTok, YouTube, Zapier, and Mailchimp, and a feature set that keeps absorbing acquired competitors. The free plan wears the Linktree brand, and custom domains are not a free-tier option. Pricing details shift between regions and resellers, so treat exact figures as approximate. No published independent uptime benchmarks found.

Trust score — 9/10

/10 trustVerified

Scored 9/10 (verified tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: Wikipedia documents the 2016 founding, the founder trio, 70M members, and the $1.7B valuation; Reuters reported the $110M March 2022 raise at $1.3B; acquisitions (Koji, Bento, Odesli, Plann) are covered by press. Strengths: invented and still leads the link-in-bio category, massive creator adoption, aggressive feature consolidation. Docked for: (1) proprietary platform with Linktree branding on the free tier and no free custom domains; (2) exact plan pricing varies by region and source; (3) its acquisition habit means smaller tools keep disappearing into it. License: proprietary.
