Inbox Zero
Open source AI email assistant and client for Gmail and Outlook.
About
Inbox Zero is an open source AI email assistant and email client from Inbox Zero Inc., built as an open source alternative to tools like Fyxer. The AI layer sorts and labels incoming mail, pre drafts replies in your own tone, and lets you steer it with plain English rules instead of settings menus. Bulk tools clear the noise: one click unsubscribe, bulk archiver, a cold email blocker, and Reply Zero tracking for threads awaiting a response. Meeting briefs pull context from your calendar before calls, and you can chat with the assistant from Slack or Telegram.
The repository at github.com/elie222/inbox-zero carries about 12,555 GitHub stars and the client code is released under the AGPL, so anyone can inspect exactly how their email is handled or self host it. The email client is free; the AI plan runs $20 a month after a 7 day trial. A press launch in October 2026 announced the full client for browser, Mac, Windows, and iPhone. Open code plus real traction makes this one of the stronger verifications in this batch.

Use cases
Works with
Trust score — 8/10
Scored 8/10 (TIER verified, metrics-v1). Evidence: 12,555 GitHub stars (checked 2026-10-16 via GitHub API); AGPL licensed client code, self hostable; October 2026 press launch of the full client for browser, Mac, Windows, and iPhone; independent MakeUseOf review. Strengths: fully auditable open code for an email product, strong star traction, clear free vs AI plan pricing. Docked for: (1) the AI features run on hosted infrastructure, so self hosting does not cover the AI plan; (2) young product with the long term maintenance record still unproven. License: AGPL.
