Hummingbot

Open-source framework for crypto market-making and arbitrage bots.

Visit official site →

About

Hummingbot is an Apache 2.0-licensed framework for building automated crypto trading strategies, most commonly market making and cross-exchange arbitrage, with connectors to 30+ centralized and decentralized exchanges.

Strategies are written in Python, deployed via Docker, and run as a local client that encrypts your API keys — nothing is handed to a third-party cloud. It includes paper trading, backtesting via Quant Lab, and an active quant community. You are responsible for your own servers and strategy logic, so it fits developers and professional market makers rather than beginners.

What it can do

  • 30+ CEX and DEX connectors
  • Pure and cross-exchange market making strategies
  • Arbitrage strategy templates
  • Python strategy development
  • Paper trading and backtesting
  • Encrypted local keystore

Setup

  1. Install Docker and pull the Hummingbot image.
  2. Create a secure local keystore for API keys.
  3. Connect exchange API keys (or start with paper trading).
  4. Configure a strategy template or write your own in Python.
  5. Launch, monitor telemetry, and backtest before going live.

Prerequisites

Docker; Python familiarity; exchange API keys; a server or VPS to run 24/7.
