About
highlight.io is an open-source monitoring platform that combines session replay, error monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing in one place. The core idea is that session replay explains why an error happened: when an exception fires, the team can watch the exact user session that led up to it instead of guessing from a stack trace.
It is built to be self-hosted with Docker alongside a hosted cloud option, and its backend SDKs build on OpenTelemetry so existing instrumentation can plug in. Founded by Jay Khatri and team, it grew through the Y Combinator ecosystem as an open alternative to tools like LogRocket, Sentry, and Datadog, with one-click hobby self-hosting for smaller workloads.
