Hidden Door
AI story engine for endless co-op narrative RPGs in licensed fictional worlds.
About
Hidden Door is an AI game platform building a narrative multiverse: a story engine that narrates endless co-op RPG campaigns set in licensed fictional worlds. The custom-built system mixes story tropes on the fly, with an AI narrator that follows each world's rules, mimics an author's writing style, and reacts to player choices like a game master. Players create characters, type free-form actions, and pick from suggested moves, with dice-style resolution guiding outcomes.
Founded by AI entrepreneurs Hilary Mason and Matt Brandwein, the studio launched with a $2M pre-seed round led by Northzone. It began testing with the public-domain Wizard of Oz world, then licensed additional worlds from authors. Players can collect, trade, and remix generated NPCs, items, and locations into new worlds and stories.
