About

Fathom is the AI notetaker that won on generosity: a free plan with unlimited recordings and transcription, and an AI summary in your inbox about 30 seconds after the call ends. Founded in 2020 by Richard White (previously of UserVoice), it joins your Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams call as a bot — with a bot-free Mac option in beta — and produces summaries with action items, highlights, and shareable clips, plus CRM field sync and Deal View for sales teams.

The traction is real: over $30 million raised, a $94 million valuation in 2024, more than 400,000 monthly active users and over a million recorded meetings, per TechCrunch's September 2026 reporting. Investors include Zoom Apps Fund, Telescope Partners and Maven Ventures, plus angels like Reddit CEO Steve Huffman. In September 2026 Superhuman acquired the Y Combinator-backed company to anchor agentic note-taking inside its productivity suite, betting that meeting transcripts are the trigger for AI that proactively starts work.

Trust score — 8/10

/10 trustVerified

Scored 8/10 (TIER verified, metrics-v1). Evidence: September 2026 Superhuman acquisition, $94M 2024 valuation and 400k+ MAU reported by TechCrunch/PitchBook; unlimited free tier and compliance posture corroborated by multiple independent reviews (TechRepublic, Fireflies, Hedy). Strengths: best-in-class free tier, top G2 rating among notetakers, strong sales tooling, real compliance credentials. Docked for: (1) acquisition puts the roadmap under Superhuman's control; (2) advanced AI features are limited on the free plan; (3) no Webex or GoToMeeting support, and phone-call recording is out of scope. License: proprietary SaaS; free tier, paid $16–$25/user/month.
