DxO PhotoLab
RAW photo editor built around DeepPRIME AI denoising and lab-grade lens corrections.
About
DxO PhotoLab is the flagship RAW editor from French imaging company DxO, and its reason to exist is image quality: the DeepPRIME (and XD/XD2) AI denoising recovers clean detail from high-ISO files better than anything else reviewers test, and DxO's lab-measured lens profiles automatically correct distortion, vignetting, and chromatic aberration across a huge camera/lens database.
Version 9 added AI masking and mask combining, iPhone HEIF/ProRAW support, and DeepPRIME processing for Fujifilm X-Trans sensors, on top of the U Point local-adjustment technology and tight integration with the FilmPack and ViewPoint add-ons. It is a genuine Lightroom Classic alternative for RAW-first photographers, sold as a subscription-free perpetual license from $229.
Limitations: it is expensive, the interface is technical, library organization lags Lightroom, and FilmPack/ViewPoint are paid extras. It has no generative-AI compositing tools — this is a correction-and-enhancement instrument, not a creative playground.
What it can do
- DeepPRIME AI noise reduction
- Automatic lens corrections
- U Point local adjustments
- AI masking
