Datadog

Cloud monitoring and security platform with APM, logs, and AI observability.

About

Datadog is the dominant cloud observability platform, unifying infrastructure monitoring, APM tracing, log management, and security in one SaaS console. Developers instrument services with its agents and 800+ integrations, then correlate metrics, traces, and logs to debug production issues. It has leaned hard into AI: the Bits AI suite (SRE, dev, and security analyst agents) and LLM Observability track model performance, agent behavior, token cost, and hallucinations.

In May 2025 Datadog acquired Eppo, a feature flagging and experimentation platform, folding experimentation into its Product Analytics suite so teams can compare models, prompts, and rollouts side by side. It also acquired Metaplane for data observability. With $4.4B in cash reported in mid-2025 and a march toward 15% of ARR from AI products, Datadog is positioning observability as the control plane for agentic software. Pricing is usage-based and famously expensive at scale, which is the main reason teams evaluate alternatives.
