CodeCompanion
AI coding in Neovim — chat, inline edits, and agentic workflows across every major LLM provider.
About
CodeCompanion.nvim is the leading AI coding plugin for Neovim, bringing chat buffers, inline transformations, and agentic workflows to Vim-style editing. It ships adapters for Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, Mistral, xAI, Ollama, GitHub Copilot, and more, plus Agent Client Protocol support so CLI agents like Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Goose, and OpenCode can drive it. MCP support, slash commands, custom prompts, rules-file awareness (CLAUDE.md, .cursor/rules), and async execution round out a plugin that essentially gives Neovim users the Cursor/Copilot Chat experience without leaving their editor.
The honest picture: it is a one-maintainer community project, so support depends on Oli Morris's bandwidth plus community adapters of varying quality. Configuration is Lua-first and genuinely complex — expect to spend real time in the docs. It also inherits Neovim's learning curve; this is a tool for people already committed to Vim-style editing, not a reason to switch.
