About

Chrome DevTools MCP is Google's official Model Context Protocol server, launched in public preview on September 23, 2025 and maintained by the ChromeDevTools team. It gives AI coding agents deep browser introspection: performance traces with Core Web Vitals insights, network waterfalls with request and response bodies, console messages with source-mapped stack traces, Lighthouse audits, and V8 heap snapshots. The surface covers around 29 tools across input automation, navigation, emulation, performance, network, and debugging categories.

The framing from the Chrome team is that coding agents are effectively programming with a blindfold on because they cannot see what their generated code does when it runs. By wiring agents into Chrome's DevTools through MCP, the server turns static suggestion engines into loop-closed debuggers that verify fixes against real browser measurements. It works with Claude, Cursor, and any MCP-compatible client.
