About

Chat2DB Community is a free, cross-platform, local-first database client for Windows, macOS, and Linux (plus web, Docker, and CLI) that pairs a full SQL workspace with an AI assistant. It connects to 40+ databases — MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, ClickHouse, MongoDB, Redis, Snowflake, BigQuery, and more via plugins — and lets you bring your own AI model to generate, explain, and optimize queries in natural language. Beyond the AI, it covers the database-client basics well: metadata browsing, DDL/DML management, in-place data editing, import/export, dashboards and charts, ER diagrams, and an open-source CLI with MCP support for agent workflows.

The honest picture: the AI assistant needs your own model key — there is no built-in free LLM — so setup is slightly more involved than tools with bundled AI. It is a community-driven project (commercial backing via OtterMind), so enterprise support expectations should be set accordingly, and some advanced capabilities sit in the paid Pro tier.
