Aiven

Managed open-source data services plus runtime and governance for production AI.

Visit official site →

About

Aiven runs managed versions of popular open-source data infrastructure (Kafka, Postgres with pgvector, ClickHouse, OpenSearch, Valkey, Flink) across AWS, GCP and Azure, so teams get production-grade streaming, search and analytics without operating the clusters. The Helsinki company raised $420M+ across rounds including a $210M Series D at a $3B+ valuation, and passed a $100M annual revenue run rate in 2025.

In 2026 Aiven moved explicitly into AI infrastructure: it acquired Finnish startup Flow AI, and launched Aiven Runtime (run apps and agents next to the data) and Aiven DataHub (governed data context for agents) with Aiven MCP for standard, secure agent access to production data. The pitch is that production AI agents stall on infrastructure, and that open-source services under one control plane with governance are what lets them ship.

What it can do

  • Managed Kafka, Postgres (pgvector), ClickHouse, OpenSearch, Valkey, Flink on any cloud
  • Aiven Runtime: deploy apps and AI agents adjacent to production data
  • Aiven DataHub: governed data catalog and context for agents
  • Aiven MCP: standardized secure agent access to data services
